T'ang Pendant Necklace
Surprisingly contemporary in design, this jewelry dates back to the time of the T’ang emperors. The original earrings may have graced the ears of a Chinese noblewoman. The T’ang Dynasty, undoubtedly ancient China’s most magnificent period, was a time of enlightenment and prosperity which lasted from 618 to 907 A.D. The Chinese empire was extended to the Caspian Sea. Literature, fine arts and learning were advanced and nourished. Buddhism, Taoism and Christianity flourished under imperial patronage.
